Creating Tasks
Tasks are the smallest unit of work in is.team. Add them to any column, assign them to teammates, and drag them across the board as work progresses.
Quick Add
The fastest way to create a task is the inline quick-add flow:
- 1
Open the input
Click the + button at the bottom of any column. An inline text field appears.
- 2
Type a title
Enter a short, descriptive title for the task. This is the only required field.
- 3
Submit
Press Enter to create the task. It appears instantly at the bottom of the column.
- 4
Cancel
Press Escape to discard the input without creating a task.
Task Fields
Every task has a set of fields you can fill in when creating or editing it.
Title (required)
A short summary of the work. Keep it concise — you can add details in the description later.
Type
Categorize the task as Bug, Feature, Task, or Story. Shown as a colored icon on the card.
Priority
Set to Low, Medium, or High. Priority is displayed as a flag icon with matching color.
Assignee
Click the assignee field and select a team member. Only workspace members appear in the list.
Task Numbers
Each task receives an auto-incremented number scoped to the workspace (e.g. #1, #2, #3). Task numbers are unique and never reused — even if a task is deleted. Use them to quickly reference tasks in comments, conversations, or commit messages.
Drag & Reorder
Tasks support full drag-and-drop interaction:
Within a Column
Drag a task up or down to reorder it. The new position is saved automatically.
Between Columns
Drag a task to a different column to change its status. The task moves to the drop position in the target column.
Column Operations
Right-click a column header to access bulk operations. You can duplicate a column (including all its tasks), clear all tasks from a column, or delete the column entirely. These actions help you manage large boards efficiently.
Tip
Use Enter to submit a new task and Escape to cancel. After creating a task, the input stays open so you can add another one immediately.
