Canvas Settings
Personalize your canvas experience. All settings are saved per user and apply across all workspaces and boards.
Opening Canvas Settings
There are two ways to open Canvas Settings:
User menu
Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Canvas.
Keyboard shortcut
Press ⌘. (or Ctrl+. on Windows/Linux) to open Canvas Settings instantly.
View
Control which visual aids appear on the canvas.
Zoom ControlsDefault: On
Show or hide the zoom in/out buttons in the bottom-right corner of the canvas.
Mini MapDefault: Off
Display a small overview map showing all nodes on the canvas. Useful for large boards with many cards and notes. You can pan and zoom the mini map directly.
Auto Fit ViewDefault: On
Automatically zoom and pan to fit all nodes when switching boards. Disable this if you prefer to keep your viewport position between board switches.
Grid & Snapping
Align nodes to a grid for a cleaner, more organized canvas layout.
Snap to GridDefault: Off
When enabled, dragging a board or note snaps it to the nearest grid point. This helps keep your canvas tidy and aligned.
Grid SizeDefault: 20px
Choose the grid cell size: 10 (fine), 20 (medium), or 40 (coarse) pixels. Smaller values give more precise placement; larger values enforce stronger alignment.
Interaction
Change how your mouse and trackpad interact with the canvas.
Pan on ScrollDefault: Off
By default, scrolling zooms in and out. Enable this to scroll-to-pan instead. This is especially useful on long, horizontally laid-out canvases. When enabled, use ⌘scroll to zoom.
Edge AnimationDefault: Off
Animate the connection lines (edges) between nodes with a flowing dash pattern. Gives a dynamic feel but may impact performance on large canvases.
Appearance
Customize the visual style of the canvas background.
Background PatternDefault: Dots
Choose a background pattern: Dots, Lines, Cross, or None. The pattern follows your viewport as you pan and zoom. When snap-to-grid is enabled, the grid size adjusts to match your grid setting.
AI Chat
Control how AI chat is displayed within task cards.
Chat PositionDefault: Aside
Choose where the AI chat panel appears: Aside (side panel next to the task modal) or Inline (embedded within the task card itself).
Info
Canvas settings are saved to your account and apply everywhere you use is.team. Some changes (like Mini Map and Background Pattern) require a page reload to take effect — this happens automatically when you save.
